AG No.1 - With some pics

OK, AG 1 complete. A little stressful, but still enjoyable & learned heaps. My first nugget on reflection, get the missis to go out... It took a lot longer than I’d anticipated & in conjunction with watching the Rugby (I'M GUTTED!!!!) my missis kinda had a sense of humor failure. Anyway, I tried a Tribute clone that I got from here. Tweaked it slightly, well to be honest just added more Maris to compensate for my inabilities. So here's the reciepe
4 kg Maris Otter
1 kg Munich
250g T.Wheat
Willamette 90 mins
Fuggle 90 mins
Willamette 15 mins
Fuggle 15 mins
Styrian Goldings at 80C
Irish moss @ 15mins
Yeast Vit 1/2 Teaspoon
Yeast was WLP008 - not sure how this will work, but I’ll soon find out
All in all I’m quite happy with the outcome… It looks the part & will hopefully taste good too. Not too bothered if it doesn’t come out like the original, as long as it’s tasty. I used the beer engine on BYO website… It said that my OG would be 1.041, but it turned out at 1.049 – I’m hoping this is a good thing… I’m assuming it’s down to differences in malt gravities in the engine.
Mashing @ 66c - after 1hr it was still 66c - Happy Days!!! Sparging - crude, but seamed to work. 80c The Hop Line-Up
