USUK Bitter

Hello,

I wanted to use some of the american pellets I bought recently, and so did. Since I'd taken the trouble to starter up the yeast last week thought I'd use it anyway even out of style 8) I have US05 which I'll use in a similar brew sometime for authenticity.

Ingredients
23L @ 75% efficiency, 60min mash, 60min boil, liquor = dry pale ale

3.60 kg Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 95.24 %
0.18 kg Wheat Malt, Bel (3.9 EBC) Grain 4.76 %
24.00 gm Simcoe [10.91 %] (60 min) Hops 30.1 IBU
6.00 gm Amarillo Gold [7.43 %] (10 min) Hops 1.7 IBU
6.00 gm Simcoe [10.91 %] (10 min) Hops 2.7 IBU
5.00 gm Amarillo Gold [7.43 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
5.00 gm Simcoe [10.91 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
1 Pkgs London Ale III (Wyeast Labs #1318) Yeast-Ale

My guess is that will be a very good beer. Amarillo and Simcoe are a great combo.

Nicing looking brew there.
Surprisingly I rarely brew with US hops (US fuggles and Willamette being the only exceptions that come to mind).

I have been using Wyeast 1318 a lot of late. It seems to give a slight bready flavor to my beers - maybe that is the malt coming thru more. I don't get much fruit out of it. Throws up a nice head that never leaves!

Si - where did you get the simcoe from?
Tasted a beer at the last LAB meeting with these and now need to brew with them.

Craftbrewer definitely have them as I bought a couple of pack recently......I've got a Simcoe and D-Saaz brew fermenting at the mo and it smells divine.
