Knocked out my attempt at a goose island IPA last night, although mine isn’t going to be just as strong as the orginal though.
After a few frustrations on previous brews i have made quite a few changes to my set up, changed to a circular mash tun with a chris/DaaB plastic plate false bottom. Changed my hopstopper to a double intake with off shooting stainless mesh rolled into cigar shapes . Set up a proper siphon effect fitting to the boiler tap to get as much of the wort as possible. Also managed to get my chiller leak proof even when the tap is turned onto fully.
I have to say it was one of my most pleasant brewing sessions, every single modification worked a treat no stuck mashes, no problems with runoff from the boiler (despite 150g of hops), reduced dead space and reduced chilling time.
Special mention though has to go to the plastic plate false bottom setup, the mash never once looked like sticking (a previous bug bear of mine with the H&G manifold). Looking forward to my next brew already.
