I decided to scale down the recpie to 15 Litres, so I would have the malt do to something with my Styrian Goldings.

Maris Otter 3.5kg
Carapils Malt 0.3kg
Crystal 120L 0.2Kg

90 mins
Cascade 15g 8% a.a
Amarillo 15g 9.1% a.a
15 mins
Cascade 15g 8% a.a
Amarillo 15g 9.1% a.a
0 mins

Amarillo 15g 9.1% a.a
Dry Hop

Most of the way through the boil, burnt my thumb but I still have some pics.

All finished now, ended up with 13 Litres at 1058.

Effiency drop there. Bah. Oh well it is a learning process.

Good stuff. :)
How were your runnings for clarity?
I'm wondering if my 12L brew lengths have been why my runnings are pretty cloudy.
It clears well once the yeast has finished though so its not going to bother me.
How long did your brew take from start to finish?

The runnings were cloudy, but after the boil it cleard up nicely.

It took me 4 and half hours. Not including it cooling in the bath, which is good. But I would rather have taken 7 and got 70% effieceny.

Not sure why it dropped so much, but the mash temperature fell 6 degree's.

That probably had something to do with it.

Just measured the Gravity again, now all cooled down. Its sitting at 1062. So that makes the effieceny 65%

I think it has something to do with the fact that highly hopped pale ales used to get sent to india, highly hopped so as to withstand the journey.

Not totally sure.

Just tried this after its been dry hoped since tuseday and tastes awsome, nice bitter aftertaste. I ended up using 25grams of Cascade and Amarillo.

Smells like fruit punch.

Its still in the primary, I just chucked the Hops in a Muslin bag after vigourous primary fermentation had stopped.

It will be bottled, as I dont have any barrels, when I finally manage to get a job, a corni set up will be on my shopping list, as well as a stir plate, a fridge/ freezer with a temperature control unit, perhaps a HLT. As well as some lovley yeast culturing equipment.

So that should only be the guts of £300....

In the mean time I will be drinking bottled beers.

Nothing wrong with bottles I just need to size & organise my bottles to make bottling sessions that bit easier :)
Bottles let you see how many you drank the night before ;)
