Extract#8 – Booble Beer – Named by Emma, renamed by me aka Nasty Barsteward IPA
A pretty random little Extract Brew, Hopping to blow your socks off, this will probably take some months to be drinkable

Fermentables:
Dried Malt Extract Medium 1000g
Crystal Malt, Pale 60 EBC 100g
Sugar, Household White 100g
Belgian Aromatic Malt 100g
German Cara Red 100g

Hops:
Herkules 60 mins 30g
Boadicea 20 mins 20g
Boadicea 10 mins 20g
Boadicea 0 mins 10g

Final Volume: 8 Litres (actually closer to 9 or 10 litres)
Original Gravity: 1.056 (actually 1048)
Final Gravity: 1.011
Alcohol Content: 5.8% ABV
Bitterness: 172 EBU (this is where the Nasty bit comes in!)
Colour: 59 EBC

Cooling in the bath, going to Pitch a Split Burton Ale yeast thats been in the fridge since mid week, give it some serious hops to munch through

Damn, that will be bitter as hell.

Sometime I'm going to try a really authentic IPA... Also I'll do a more sensible challenger IPA

If that turns out Over bitter blend it.
that said just had 2 bottles of Brewdog PunkIPA and second was quite mellow but I guess Ill sleep well.

May be you should have called it Soporific Booble Barsteward.

I'v just posted my Monster brew for this weekend, was going to be a nice brew but sod the costs of my local Hb shop £44 for 25kg. so just took 3kg

I'm thinking of bottling it all in 330ml bottles and leaving it for a long time, though as you say Blending it could be an interesting option

You can use the months of maturation to get used to bitter tastes by sucking on lemons

I think the Burton yeast is going to mute-out quite a bit of the hopping, and I added a load of Gypsum and Chalk to the boil to the yeast might hopefully give off some sulphurous aromas too
And at 9 or 10 litres more than the recipe the hopping IBU's come down to around that of an Authentic IPA, but this is darker and probably going to be maltier too.

I tried a bottle of this at the weekend... (Bottled Friday 4th Sept has completed 2 weeks @ 20C)
Bitter!! Fruity berries flavour... not a million miles away from a Brewdog beer, I'm mildly impressed, it wend down very well with some home made Onion Bhajis
