What Ho!
Finally got permish from Mrs Bingo to have a bash at my first A.G. Got a Woolly Jumper kit from Barley Bottom. All measured out makes it nice and easy for a beginner. Actually turned out to be a lot easier than expected. Mashed for 90mins at around 67ish. Batch sparged. Run off slow at first due to stray grains getting under false bottom/plate. Rectified by attaching siphon tube to tap and giving a swift blow.(Saw some fellow do this on a video I watched via JBk =D> ). Collected about 30 litres. Boiled for 90mins. Cooled with home made immersion cooler. Dumped into fermenter via sieve and gave a good shake. Pitched yeast. Ended up with about 22 litres with a gravity of 1.044. So pretty much spot on. Plan to go to secondary then bottle.
Just like to say thanks to all the people at JBK for their very informative posts.

Thanks. I think this could become addictive. I am already planning my next one. Something dark from GW's B.Y.O.B.R.A methinks.

Hello Chaps. The beer has been in the fermenter for 7 days now so I decided to check the gravity. It's down to 1.010. I'll check again tomorrow but I think that's about it. I have tasted it too. Although it is as flat as witches tit, it already smells and tastes fantastic, much better than any of the kits I have tasted at this stage.
I was thinking of going to secondary but as the beer is as clear as a bell do you think that is really necessary?

1.010 is very good. As it's pretty clear I would go straight to keg or bottle rather than risk going secondary.

That's two votes for straight to the bottle. My vote makes three. Motion carried. Straight to the bottle it is. Cheers.
