Grist
Maris Otter 5kg
Flaked Barley 0.7kg
Roasted Barley 0.4kg
Chocolate Malt 0.4kg
Belgian Special "B" 0.4kg
Crystal Malt 0.3kg
Amber Malt 0.3kg
Carafa III malt 0.25kg

Additional: Dark DME 0.5kg added last 5 mins.

Hops
Herkules 15.8% a.a. 90mins 27g 61IBUs

I wasnt going to add the DME at first, but I thought I wasnt going to make the gravity I wanted. Turns out that I was totally fine.

Ended up with 18L @ 1102. Should have a kick to it.

Will post pics later after the boxing perhaps.

Mucho grains senor, impressed and liking the label, very minimal. I have not heard of Herkules hops, its good to see something new. What yeast are you using in it?

Seems very influenced by some canine-themed brewery whose name I can't quite remember now ... :D

I used 3x US-05. Over pitching I know, but I would rather end up with no off flavours.

Also, [-X the brewery is named after the dog:

Ooooyah.....that's going to be some beer. Looks like a good brewday.

I hope you're patient enough to wait at least a year to drink it at it's best!

Yeah I was planning to drink it next October. I'll be trying a bottle on my birthday in February. Then just to check its progress.

But wont get stuck in for a while....

Luckily I will have plenty of hoppy pale stuff to keep me occupied.

I was originally going for 16L @ 1097. But the elements cut out.

Hopefully the spray malt wont detract from the final product.

Black as hell they were. Thankfully after some cleaning they are working again.

Don't worry about the extract. It won't be noticeable at all, in my experience.

Good I was slightly worried about that. At one point I was considering chucking the beer in a fermenter and switching out the element so I could boil for longer, but figured that would be too much hassel and I would end up burning myself and being up till all hours.

Should hopefully still turn out nice.

I'd also say the DME won't be noticed, my 2 extract stouts have been fantastic. :)
