AG#56 Northdown Experiment #2 (Watery Fowls)
Re: AG#56 Northdown Experiment #2 (Watery Fowls)
Dissaster strikes
It was 5 mins into the boil and then it just stopped, so i quickly emptied the boiler, fit a new element, refilled boiler, but still nothing,
i only have the one kettle lead, so tried connecting a PC lead just to see if it would fire it up, but alas no.
I`m still fairly hungover from last night so dont fancy jumping in the car to source either another element or lead, so it will have to
sit in the boiler until later, when the wife gets home from work i`ll get her to run me on to Tesco`s or Morrisons.
Will the wort be ok or will the hops that are already in just turn it too bitter, theres 35g of Northdown AA 7.9% sat in there, just stewing away.

Just make sure its not hot wort so it wont be extracting any a.a. and it wont be bitter.

Re: AG#56 Northdown Experiment #2 (Watery Fowls)
Well after getting a new lead the new element still wouldn`t fire up, so decided to try the old one i took out, WTF
it started working, so emptied boiler again, put the old element back in and fired her up, its working fine and just coming
to the end of the boil, about 6 hrs later than planned.
If this beer turns out ok the problem will be replicating it
I think i may have thrown something away that was connected to 2 spade connectors on the new element
,will look
into that later.

Re: AG#56 Northdown Experiment #2 (Watery Fowls)
I went and bought another Tesco budget kettle and realised my mistake,i needed to bridge the two spade connectors that
had the switch on them, soi cobbled something together and tested both elements, and they now work fine
