Right, my White Shield IPA is in and fermenting very vigorously.

Here are some pics of my brew day.

Preparation
Image

Mashing and sparging is some what small-scale (I'm pushing the limits of my set up a bit)

Looks pretty clear

Hops (never used square hops before :) )also my very high-tech false bottom can be seem in the background.

The boil (notice the residue of a minor boil over what happens when I turn my back to weigh hops)

Cooling

More cooling

Ready for pitching

Now, after pitching my large starter I had about 22 litres.

About 9 hours later when I got up to go to work I found that the fermentation had begun and the foam was jetting out of the top to the airlock....

Looking back now putting a bubbler on straight away was a little misguided. Anyway I replaced the bubbler with a blow off tube and all is looking good.

Because I'm not used to brewing this sort of quantity I ended up filling my boiler before the gravity of the the liquor from the mash tun had dropped really low. This mean that I wasted some malt sugars and consequently my OG is a little low at 1.043.

Drew,

I'm sorry I missed the alternate brew thread. Great pictures and a real inspiration on what's possible on a stove top and some Ice. None of this fancy Immersion chillers, dedicated boilers etc.... Well done.

Although the RED NIPPLE TYPE Things on the FV look a bit suspect
