See what Ive done there :D This was originally going to be a Deuchars but im going with tons of Saaz instead to use them up....

3.5Kg MO Pale Ale Malt
500g Torrified Wheat

23 Lts

Saaz 3.3% 50g for 90 mins
Saaz 3.3% 50g for 20 mins

Colour 6!!!
EBU 31

Just eating a lovely local butchers bacon sandwich then I shall get on with sparging. My girlfirend keeps working Sats which has been giving me the perfect excuse to get up early and brew :D

I've got a Saaz IPA in planning, I'd be interested to hear how yours turns out :)

I was going to bitter it up with some Challenger then have 3 additions of Saaz to take it to 58 EBU with a simple pale malt at OG1055 ish

Loverrrlllyy

Wanted 1039 @ 23 litres ended up with 25 lts @ 1038.6 :D

Not a bas day was done by 1.30pm after switching the hlt on at 7.30am.

Had a couple of problems such as an open tap on the MT and 2 stuck mashs....but nothing that couldnt be dealt with

Should be interesting with all those hops.

Anyone got any tips on dry hopping....wanted to maybe try it with this brew before I corny it...

Supposedly Saaz don't have good dry hopping properties (although they are a great copper hop), so be careful

Eff *ucking disaster.

This was to be my first beer to go into my new cornelius. Its fermented out over two weeks as the lunge got a bit cold.
Got it down to 1010 yesterday so syphoned it into a secondary with finings and left it for 24 hours.

Ive just spent two hours disinfecting my corny and 10 bottles only to get them all filled and have a quick taste to find out I have a lovely medicinal tcp flavour.

*ucking hell. I am so pissed off. The aftertaste is lovely really like the Saaz hops but this will obviously be destined for the drain.

Suddenly I hate this hobby........

Better get another one on the go....

It's a real p*sser isn't it, I've got 40 pints of APA in the garage & it's diacetyl city so that lot's going down the drain

Try to be positive about it if you can, you'll have space for another brew now

Booger!
I was looking forward to hearing how this beer turned out.

So far I think I've been very lucky, other than brewing a beer that I consider to be an occasional drink rather than a regular, I've not suffered any infections.

I feel for you,i had 2 earlier in the year that had the dreaded TCP taste,
80 pints down the toilet, i could have cried.
I was advised to use Campden tablets in my mash and sparge liquor and since then
i`ve not had another TCP one.

Thanks for comments. Going to get another one on the go on Tuesday got some time to myself.

Im not at work at the mo so I cant even take a sample to work and get it fully checked out. I suppose theres part of me that is hoping it might be a 'young' taste but I fear not...Im still going to leave it in the corny for a week or so....the aftertaste was lovely BTW PDTNC, I would highly recommend the Saaz idea just not the tcp one :(
