AG #4 Nightmare

Post by pas8280 » Tue Jan 05, 2010 11:11 pm

Well my fourth AG is in the bottles not got high hopes for this one the OG came out at 1062 instead of the estimated 1056 then the liquid yeast i got from the brewery which was in a plastic bottle almost exploded when opened because i had given it a shake, so no idea how much i pitched in (going back to Nottingham next time) it was in FV ten days FG got down to 1016 and had been stable for four days.
So i set up to bottle when i removed the screw top (keep it all covered up with insulation etc whilst fermenting) it looked like some of the yeast head was floating still on top of the brew not withstanding as it didnt look active i transfered to the bottling bucket as it drained i noticed that the yeast on the bottom wasn't very flocculent and i didnt get as much brew out as i hoped.
Then i realised that i hadnt put the priming solution into the bucket :( so in it went and had to give it a gentle stir so must have airiated it some.
Still only time will tell i suppose not confident that it will be as good as the first 3 So weighed the grains out ready to put a brew on tomorrow with trusted Nottingham this time :)

You might be pleasantly surprised.......... Beer has a funny way of doing that, i've had a few that i've given up as lost causes as well but time heals all as they say, well almost all apart from alcoholism
