My Easy Drinking light Bitter!

Hello all, thought i would do my bit for this forum as i always enjoy looking at other peoples brews, so here i am with one of my own.

This is an easy drinking bitter not too dark (or strong) so that you can have a few pints of without getting too pi33ed!

3kg Maris otter pale malt
200g crystal malt

50g Challenger hops
20g fuggles hops
10g saaz hops
i x jar orange blossom honey (tesco)
nottingham yeast

5 gallons OG about 1040

Thanks for sharing those pics, polymoog! Looks a great setup and should be a great brew to enjoy in the spring/summer :)
Like the showerhead idea! is it just fed from the HLT by gravity, or do you use a pump? Is the spray gentle enough for the sparge?

No, nothing complcated just gravity, flow rate is controlled by the valve on HLT to match the output of the mash tun.
i wave the showerhead around in the mash tun and it always works a treat.
ive got one of those brass spinney things but the bloody thing never works so ive given up on it and now i just use the showerhead.
maybe ill call it bathroom bitter !!!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I think I read that you are supposed to heat your honey up to a certain temp before adding to cooled wort as it kills the bugs or something in the Bee poo.

thanks i didn't know that. Jar was placed in a bowl of nearly boiling water to make it more runny for pouring into the fermenter.
Also as its from tesco and not my local organic honey shop i hope its been pasteurised or something similar first. [-o<

I wonder how it would taste fermented with UK-05?
