Last night I did an impromptu brew.

3500g MO
70g Caramalt
52g rolled oats *edit: forgot this one earlier
200g golden syrup
Big glug of maple syrup
35g Fuggles at 90 mins
100g Cascade at 5 mins
S05 yeast

90 min steep and a total mash time of 2 hours or so.

Gravity of 1.036

Took me ages, started at 6pm and ended up with brew in FV and the kitchen spotless by 3AM! My time got burned on a long mash. All wort into the FV was completely clear, I ran everything really slowly so that no extra particles came through.

Took a couple of photos but on my phone as camera batteries were flat. Nothing you won't have seen before, I'll post the finished brew photos though, colour was good one this one.

Ended up using the S05 yeast as a test, been hearing the S04 doesn't play too well with certain bitterness/hops flavours. Although I should have split this and used an S04 in FV2 as a test, but at 3AM on a school night I wasn't thinking like that...

well done!
I always seem to do late nighters at the moment, don't like the idea of boiling liquids and small kids mixing  , so wait for them to go to bed before starting.
started an OSH on sunday night at 8pm, but was all washed up and FV put to bed by half 12, so not *too* bad for a school night

I rushed a bit, but like you, tend to try and runoff slowly to minimise crud.
I also like to let the cooled boiler sit for a bit to allow protein clumping to occur before slowly streaming off to FV.

you may be tired today, but think of what awaits you in a few weeks :)

A glass of my first brew after a couple of weeks in the bottle, was really malty, I had to have a second. I wonder if it will be any different tonight... Mustn't. Bad...

Right I have had it out of the first fermenter and into teh second one. I had my head pretty much in there while siphoning it out giving it a good sniff. Really hoppy with not much yeasty smell. Gravity down to 1.014 so hoping for a bit more of a drop. The sample tasted really good. I would say more summery than my summer lightning AG2 brew. That was good but the 100g of Cascade has really done the trick. I can't wait until I crack one of these open in a few weeks.

Bit blurry and what you're looking at is the sample sized glass, the other one is my AG1 brew:
