AG#6 - Please Go Nut Brown

Post by wmfd » Sun May 02, 2010 9:38 am

An election inspired brew this morning, a nut brown ale.

Grain bill:
3.9kg Pale Malt
0.5kg Amber Malt
0.5kg Crystal Malt
70g Chocolate Malt

Hops:
90g Fuggles (3.9%) - 90 mins
25g Fuggles (3.9%) - 75 mins
22g Golding (4.6%) - 15 mins

Reason for the 75 mins addition - a sudden realisation that I'd forgotten to allow for the AA% vs the recipe I was following! #-o

Early start, boiler went on to start heating at 4.30am - thank goodness for timers. All went uneventfully (what have I forgotten) even pre-boil gravity on target.

It's in the boiler now, boiling away merrily - late hops go in at 10am.

No pics I'm afraid, eyes too bleary, and the sight of me in my dressing gown reflected in stainless-steel, is something no-one should have to bear. :)

Hoping it's a good one,

David
Planning: Election interference Russian Imperial Cocoa Stout and something for Christmas
Fermenting: Nothing beery (there is a kombucha going though)
Conditioning: Nothing
Bottled (Drinking): 1936 Mackesons, Weissbeer, Summer Lightning
