AG 4, Hydes dark mild

Post by adodman » Wed May 19, 2010 2:57 pm

Just finished my fourth AG beer, Hydes dark mild clone out of BYOBRA. Only change to the recipe was an extra 25g chocolate malt and 9l in the mash rather than 8.8l.

Just taken an SG in the FV and I hit 1.041 but managed just under 5 gallons by about 1 - 1.5l rather than the books stated 1.034 at 5 gallon so think I might have boiled just a bit too much off. I'll leave it as it is though rather than trying to top it up.

Pretty good I think. :D :D

Can't wait to try it. [-o< [-o<

Already tastes better than the beer in my local

Can't wait for it to finish and have spent a couple of weeks in the keg :D

AG is just the best.....

I doubt you'll notice 25g chocolate. I always round strike volumes up to the nearest litre. I doubt it has any effect on theoretical efficiency (I've not yet found anything on-line which gives a clue) but IME a slightly thinner mash mixes somewhat easier.
Best wishes
