Strong and Actually Pale Ale

Post by coatesg » Mon May 24, 2010 4:36 pm

This one is currently chugging away after I did it on Saturday - hopefully not too hot for it at the mo, but I've not got use of the fermenting fridge for this one as the FV is too big for it, and I still haven't done surgery on the fridge door... #-o Truly pale this time after my strong, not-quite-so-pale ale that is just finishing up  .

4.6kg Pale malt
300g Wheat malt
200g Munich
200g Caramalt

Mash 67C

150g Golden Syrup

28g WGV 8% 60min
52g Fuggles 3.8% 60min
14g Fuggles 3.8% 30min
14g Fuggles 3.8% 5min
14g Fuggles 3.8% 0min

Yeast WLP005 Ringwood.
OG1057, IBU: apparently about 48.

Loverly Fuggles... can't go wrong that really :)
I'm missing my cellar at the old house :( The new garage, however nice that it is, just doesn't stay cool enough!

Hmm - this is gonna be a fruity one (perhaps a hint of banana in the aroma, but that could just be a mid-ferment aroma that'll go) - it's running quite warm (23C or so) and have roused and put it outside this evening to cool for a bit to get it down to the 20C region again. Hmm.

Looks good, I love that British ale yeast, and with Fuggles you can't go wrong.
