Great start to the day, I don't think!

Well thought now the weather is a bit cooler I would fire out 10 gallons of mild, everything ready for a early start. Just getting mash water to strike temperature and dropped the digital thermometer in the tun, what a plonker. Emergency pull apart and cool air from the hair drier and I think I have saved it, well mash temperature seemed the same as before I dropped it in and boiling water seems the right temperature as well.
Any else done that and has the gauge been any good after?
Hope the rest of the day goes a bit smoother.

I've dropped my (cheap) digital thermometer into boiling water before, pulled it out (with some difficulty mind you), let it dry for a day or few, and it was fine.

Have you done the tried and tested trick of bunging it into a jam jar with a load of uncooked rice for a few days? Works for mobiles dropped in baths.
