Fullers London Porter - GW Recipe
I can't believe All Grain number 3 has come round already, mainly thanks to a poor #2. But so far this has been a success! I'm using Graham Wheelers, Fullers London Porter. This is my first Porter ever, and I'm looking forward to trying it in a few weeks time as it's one of my fav beers!
I have made my own checklist this time to avoid any disasters (as much as possible!). It has helped me a lot, if you don't use one, I recommend you do!
Start of day, everything already cleaned, sanitised and weighed. This is my first brew using CRS, so I'm interest to see if I can detect any quality improvements. As I have never shown my set up to you before, heres a pic!

I normally will do this outside, but after a short spell of rain this morning, the decision was made to keep it in the kitchen, just in case!
Only one variety of hop in this brew today, just as I like it, good and simple.

Trying a slightly higher strike temperature today to reach 66c as I seem to be consistently getting 62-63c. This time though, spot on with the grain bed being 66. Preheating my mash tun has really helped me this time to, why I haven't done this before, I don't know. Timer set for 90mins, time for lunch!
Freshly made bread with the addition of the previous brews used grain, I recommend doing this, the taste was fantastic!

Back to the beer! After the mash had finished, the grain bed was still held at 66c, so very very happy about this, camping mats really seem to do the job very well. Getting some very clear (for porter) runnings and I was getting above 1.016 until the very end.

Collected 24L at 1.054 post-boil. I worked this out to be an efficiency of 78%, quite happy about this.
Wort transfered to boiler and its now on its way, both fuggles for bittering and aroma additions. Getting a good rolling boil with my old Electrim boiler.

So... I'm just waiting for the boil to finish now to get the final gravity and have a cheeky taste. This will be the first time I've used my peltier fermentation chiller, so more picture to come!
