Cool video - a nice bit of fun!
You kind of reminded me of Henry Rollins, except... a Henry Roliins who loves beer. Really loves beer.

I am planning on doing a Cascadian Dark Ale on Tuesday and wanted some insight on mash hopping. (sorry for any thread hijacking involved...)

Do you notice any difference from mash hoppping vs first wort hopping? Smoother bitterness? More layered hop flavour? Would love your insight as I have always drooled over your recipes...

DING DING DING!
I'm all ears. Fresh thread methinks as I'm doing a ton of homework on the CDA style and it will be my next brew.... my long-suffering aspirations to knock out a Lambic take a beating once more!
Re: Harvest Ale
I drank a couple of CDA's in Idaho this last weekend. Widmer's W10 and Deschutes, Cascadia Dark. Both were excellent. Very interesting style.
I took a gravity reading on the Harvest. It's getting close. Gravity was at 1.022. I'm going to dry hop it real soon. The sample I had was excellent.
Nicely bitter, with tons of grapefruit rind and citrusy deliciousness. I'm going to do another Harvest Ale soon. It'll be with Chinook. Got tons of
'em.

Sounds great. Send me a bottle? Along with a good selection of west coast ipas?
Re: Harvest Ale
Ok, in exchange you pay for and arrange the shipping for a cask of Landlord.DarloDave wrote:Sounds great. Send me a bottle? Along with a good selection of west coast ipas?

The Cascades were apparently not that strong. It's hoppy, but not as hoppy as I anticipated. It's dry hopping now.
I'm going to rack it into the keg tomorrow.
