An idiots brew day

Order arrived on Wedsnesday with ingredients for a big Xmas Special Leffe clone. Goody goody.

6kg of WHOLE pilsner malt instead of crushed. (Not paying attention when ordering) Couple of hours running the lot through my prized burr coffee grinder.

Belgian abbey smack pack yeast swelled luverly then promptly failed miserably in the starter wort. No HBS over here but cadged a yeast pack from a kit at the health food shop. Probably dated 1986.

Turned Burco on this morning. Blue flash & acrid smoke as plug internals welded together.

Ah! finally got going. 10 mins to go. The Irish moss next . Open container. Yes, empty.

Despite all this it did'nt under shoot by miles ( 1052 rather than 1058) and smells fantastic. Just hope the replacement yeast arrives in the post so I don't have to use the mummyfied fly poo.

See. Despite all that, the beer wants to be made. It'll be fine (assuming you do actually pitch some yeast at some point...)

Glad yours came Trucker ordered mine on Wednesday morning and i know Rob posted out same day so it was expected yesterday still not arrived as i speak,my thoughts are its languishing at Wigan sorting office (cos pie's av come)
At the moment the beer gods are not being kind my last brew i fear is destined for the "grid out front" and i cant get another one on because Royal Male are holding my ingredients to a pie ransom :)
