I'll not go into too many details as Manx Guy did this brew yesterday - glad to hear the yeast's working away Guy!!
I'm doing a 60 minute boil so I've tweaked the hops via beer engine to get the same EBU as GW's recipe with a 90 minute boil.
I've noticed a couple of things I need to sort out before next brew day:
1) don't forget to take the AA of your hops into account when planning your recipe - my fuggles are at a lot lower AA than those in GW's recipe, so when i'd weighed mine the other night and had 70 - odd grams I thought I had more than plenty as the recipe in the book needed 61, after doing the calculations this morning I had to scrape the bag clean to get my required 74. I was half expecting to have to dash out to barley bottom whilst the mash was on
2) at the moment I've neen using 1/2" food grade pipe to connect to taps / sparge arm etc, just heating the end with hot water and pushing it over the 15mm copper pipe on my ball valve or sparge arm - I need to come up with a better aproach to this which is easier to connect/disconnect..... Any sugestions would be appreciated
