WGV 20.00 16.80 30

Percentage mash
Pale malts 65.0
Amber 17.0
Smoked 12.0
Brown 5.0
Pale Choc 1.0

21L, Burton on trent yeast at 20c.
Primmed 1g dark candi per 500ml.
Expected 4.76% ish, was hoping for a bit more ie 5.2%

Here we go, it's another porter. Any thoughts? I have already made it but expect it to take at least 6 months. So it a summer porter, ass e back to front again. But loving the red hue. :oops:

Done a bit of reading (Designing Great Beers). Early porters used to be made by blending ales of different ages. One example of, if my recall is right, they would blend 3 month with 6 month of brown ales. I've not gone the whole hog and I am doing it in one shot. So the time is really there to allow the harsh edges of the brown and pale choc malts to mellow. And l so I think it's a fair wedge of hops at 6 ish aa, sensitive sole me. :wink:

But then I mite be missing the obvious too. It may not take that long. The only way to really tell is to, um test on a weekly bases. :roll: That was ment to be a joke, but it still seems to happen.

You need to keep the tests regular all right, for scientific reasons you understand ;)
