30/12/2010 - Thrappledouser

Post by Jymbo » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:59 pm

Had another go at Thrappledouser this evening - don't have any dark crystal so I used crystal and a bit of black malt for colour. This is what I rustled up.

Target OG: 1045
Brewlength: 23L

Grain Bill:

MO: 4200g
Crystal Malt: 150g
Wheat Malt: 100g
Black Malt: 25g

90 min mash @ 65C

Hop Schedule:

Pilgrim (11%) 20g, 90 mins
EKG (6.8%) 20g, 10 mins
Cascade (8%) 30g End of boil

Yeast:
Safale-04

Started around 6 - just finished cooling now around 11. Should be in bed by midnight!

Partly that, and partly I'm just a stubborn git who'll keep trying till I get it right! Plus I haven't had a lot of time for brewing over the past while so when I put a brew on I like to be sure it'll be something I'll enjoy.

Hi,

Looks good! How do you like the pilgrim hops & where did you get them from?

Regards

I got them from the Thrifty Shopper back in the summer - just bought 50g - this is the first I've used them. I'll let you know how they taste.

Bottled this on Thursday night and had a taster last night. Still a bit green, but it's a great brew. The pilgrim hops provide a lovely spicy bitterness - I'll definitely be using them again.
