Looking good :)
Is your Mash tun one of the 'Rubbermaid' US-style ones?

Like the look of that. Where did you get the Magnum hops from?

Sorry for the stupid question....What does the old yeast do when you add to the kettle? I've seen a few people do it here on Jim's and I have ni idea why? :?
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!

Not a stupid question at all. Yeast has got lots of nutrients and good stuff in it, and it makes a good 'food' for the yeast used in fermentation to build up itself up and ferment the beer better.

the Tun is a US style Igloo 5 gallon coolbox 45 quid on ebay, & it holds temperature brilliantly with no mod other than a grain manifold in the bottom i didb;t need to drill a hole or bugger all.

You can get the magnum pellets from craftbrewer in australia, not sure you can get them in the uk easily, other than farams or the like, they do give a really mellow bitterness though I like them.

As above old yeast in the boiler as yeast food (nutrient) I add Youngs yeast nutrient as well, a bit over the top really but it works, I keep trying to get some food safe zinc sulphate solution @ about 6% cos about 5ml of this to 23l gives a much cleaner beer with less esters, its not easy to get in small quantities though.

Forgot to add my bigger brewery has been in action today as well

Well its not strictly finished yet, I have brewed a few times on it and keep changing things but am far from happy with the pipework between vessels, therefore a few mods are in order before kicking in again with it, on top of that there is my conical to finish, but I am on the case have made a spinning sparge arm this last weekend, amongst other things I'll put an update in my build post.

Well have checked on the FV this evening 24 hrs in and fermentation is well underway, the starter I made out of the dregs from a couple of bottles of bengal lancer has worked great.
