Not really tried to make a clone version of a beer, so I thought I would give this one a shot.
Ingredients:
------------
Amount Item Type % or IBU
3.64 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (3.0 SRM) Grain 95.2 %
0.18 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 4.8 %
17.00 gm Aurora [7.80%] (60 min) Hops 16.1 IBU
11.50 gm Fuggles [6.40%] (60 min) Hops 10.0 IBU
11.70 gm Williamette [5.60%] (15 min) Hops 4.0 IBU
10.10 gm Fuggles [6.40%] (5 min) Hops 1.7 IBU
11.40 gm Goldings, East Kent [4.30%] (5 min) Hops 1.2 IBU
1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
0 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) Yeast-Ale
Day went very well and its fermenting just now.
I also tried to use some water treatments, Sodium Met to remove chlorine and Gypsum to increase the alkalinity.

Hi,
Looks like a good brew day!
What final volume did you get into your FV?
Is it the photos or do you use a 10 gal boiler? there doesnt seem much wort in the shot of the boil...
I'm on my last dozen pints of the Deuchars IPA I made at the start of December...
I like the recipe and found it fairly similar to the commercial brew. However if/when I brew this again I might be tempted to add a bit of whaet to the recipe in future for a little better head retention...
I cant help but think this might make a nice low ABV summer ale if served slightly chilled from an 'Easy keg' and dry hopped in the keg with few styrian cones...
Cheers!
Guy

Yeah its a 10 gallon boiler.
I was only making a 20L batch for one on my kegs, ended up with 20L at 1.047

Hi,
Nice result! I too ended up with a higher OG I got 23 litres in the FV @ 1043 so I was happy with the result!
I've been finding that even with my 'cack handed' mashing and sparging technique I'm getting about 80-84% mash efficiency... and several times I have diluted in the boiler (last 5 mins) to get slightly more beer.. but with the Deuchars I just stuck with a the sstronger brew
My last vienna brew was down on target gravity by 3 points but I later realised (when weighing out the grains for my next brew) I had made an error when weighing out the malt!
So my efficency record remains ok... Interestingly it finished 2 points lower than the target FG so overall the ABV will be unaffected
Not that I'm too hung up about it - Id rather get a great brew at 75% efficency than an 'ok' one at 85%

Tried my first pint of this from the keg after only 2 1/2 weeks.
Water treatment seems to have made a slight difference that the beer seems more balanced and no harsh tastes. I have to admit it is still young but damn its a good beer and could be my best to date. Polyclar didnt do anything to rid my chill haze but big deal

Hi,
Glad you are happy with your brew!
Nothing wrong with an early sample for quality assurance purposes!
I found mine didnt drop bright until 4-5 weeks! then you could read the paper through it!
Cheers!
Guy
