Triple Dropped IPA

I brewed this in December (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=38318&hilit=+ipa) and everyone absolutely loved it so I'm making it again tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have more to myself this time!

The hop hit from this ale is absolutely massive. I've called it Triple Dropped IPA because the hop quantity is on the 300g mark. One day I'll be brave enough to brew Quadruple Dropped IPA. Not yet though...

Anyway, more importantly, Is this even an IPA? It has a mix of Bobek and Cascade.

That looks fantastic! Have to ask, how much did the hops hold onto in the copper?
Nice!

Right up my street. I love that style of hops. Even with that amount of hops it is still way cheaper than my new local at £3.00 a pint. .............and probably better, although they do always have 8 real ales on the bar.

Styrian works well with Cascade. I think it would be better than an all Cascade brew IMHO which (to me) can tend towards one dimensional a lot of the time.

I thought I made a note of it somewhere but must not have. Last time I was very aware of the amount I'd lose to hops so near the end of the boil, I sieved as many as I could out then strained the wort back into the boiler. My efficiency was 78% and I usually hit 80%. So, all in all, not that many!

My favourite combo is Bobek and Cascade. I just think they work amazingly well together. Next time I do this, I'll swap 2kg of MO for 2kg of Munich. I like the idea of a Triple Dropped Ruby IPA!

Right... I need to get started here. Head's a bit hazy from last night's booze so have been drinking coffee to bring me round. Will update here as I go. ;-)

Right. Mash is sitting at 71c - perfect. Trying out a new MT I made for a friend. Young's fermenter/camping mats/plastic plate job. Very happy with it so far.

Lost around 4L to hops. Have 24L in the fermenter at 1055. Efficiency was 80%. Beer should come in at around 5.7%. Very happy! ;-)

I can't remember how I ended up here BUT, how did this brew turn out? I've got a bundle of Bobek and Cascade with no home right now.

Hey Steve. Put it this way. I've brewed it 7 times now. Had a pint today! :-)

Great hop combo.

P.S, I did state above that the "hop hit from this ale is absolutely massive." That was over a year ago. Since then I've discovered what a massive hop hit really is!

This beer has a very generous hop hit. The Bobek and Cascade are great together. I'm planning a Simcoe/Aurora for my next IPA. Purely because Simcoe are like super Cascade and Aurora are like super Bobek... apparently!
