So yesterdays plan of doing bugger all changed when i realised on thursday night that the last batch of mild i made wasnt going to last very long ,and the larger i had planed to brew wouldn't get long enough to mature if i ran out of beer.so an emergency brew was needed .Decided to go with something simple, and what was left in the grain bin,but not touching the larger ingredients. so we took
Crystal Malt 1 lbs. 8.3 oz 690 grams 12.1%
Pale Malt 11 lbs. 0.4 oz 5000 grams 87.9%
Challenger 9.3 % 90 mins 0 lbs. 0.7 oz 20 grams 33.3%
Fuggle 4.6 % 90 mins 0 lbs. 0.7 oz 20 grams 33.3%
Fuggle 4.6 % 15 mins 0 lbs. 0.7 oz 20 grams 33.3%
Bitterness: 33 EBU
Colour: 37 EBC
chucked in 15 liters of water at 67c,left it alone and went paid the rent, done a bit of shoplifting and gave the thieving barstewards at the council the first ransom payment they call council tax.And still made it home in time for a coffee before the sparge was due.Was ment to be 23 litres at 1.055,instead after the boil i ended up with 24 liters at 1.059 so a bonus, one near disaster was averted, whilst wrestling with the immersion chiller i knocked the mug of rehydrated Nottingham yeast, luckily i caught it before it manage to escape across the floor. This morning was awoken to the sound of a belching frog in the bathroom, looks like the yeast is doing its thing nicely
