#42 - Best Bitter - Brew night video

Post by ChrisG » Sat Apr 16, 2011 7:47 am

So i have made my first brewing video, a bit rough around the edges as i have never done this before and not too keen on seeing myself on the screen! It was fun though and all worked out well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0V-9Ti7iK0

There are two parts of 15mins each.

Enjoy!

Hey Chris. Well done man. Enjoyed that!

Now then... running off at full pelt? What was your overall efficiency on that brew?

Managed to work it out by watching again. Your brewhouse efficiency is 78%. That's bloody impressive given the fact you run off at full pelt.

Thanks for looking into that. I haven't had time to respond to your message, on my phone just now.
That's pretty good then. Always done a fast run off and it always works.

Nice video - well done! My sparging technique is quite similar to yours - glad to see you're having success with it. My efficiency went up from 70-75% to over 80% when I switched from batch sparging. It's a lot quicker too :D

I can get high 80's batch sparging.

That's excellent - well done :D My mash tun is too small to get efficient batch sparging, so the switch to a continuous sparge made sense. I don't use exactly the same method as ChrisG which goes to show that sparging isn't so much of a black art as it might seem.
