Today I am brewing this,

23 Litres
1.6kg Maris Otter LME
1kg DME
250g Crystal Malt

50g Cascade 5% aa 60 minute boil
15g Cascade 5% aa 15 minute boil
10g Cascade at boiler power off.

Gervin ale yeast

Hoping for, OG 1038 with around 35 IBU's of bitterness.
Grains have been steeped and sparged waiting for the boil to start :D

Looks tasty, tubby. My wife and I both like a light ale with a big cascade aroma. Smells great coming out of the fermenter, too. :D Good luck with it.

This one has come out of secondary and into the barrel this morning and I am well pleased :D
There is none of the "extract twang" that I remember from extract and kit brewing :D
I think this must be down to a few things.
Firstly I think that the malt extracts have improved, this is what I used as the base of this brew

I also think that the available homebrewing yeasts have improved a hell of a lot and finally my brewing knowledge has increased greatly, so that I now know the importance of dechlorination and temperature control during fermentation.
