3rd AG Brewday TTL

Hi All,

I was planning on doing Steve Flacks Amarillo recipe (now next week hopefully) but in the interest of domestic harmony i.e. the missus likes this one, I'm doing Tomothy Taylors Landlord from BYOBRAAH instead.

Ingredients
4.28 kg Golden Promise
170g Torrified Wheat

80g Styrian Goldings
32g Fuggles

Last 15 mins

20g Goldings

Last 10 mins.

1 Whirlfloc Tablet

Safale S04

With regard to the hops, I think the book assumes an AA contect of 7.9% for the Styrian Goldings, mine are actually 3.8% so I applied the following correction factor :-

(7.9 / 3.8 )*39 = 80 g, and the same for the Goldings (the fuggles are in 'spec'.), does this seem right ?

Also, I noticed when Wez brewed it he was advised to steep some Styrians at the end of the boil, how much do you think I should go for ?

Anyway, mash now in progress, off for a shower.

Cheers in advance

Richard

Sorry, should have mentioned that, yes 39g is the original figure.

Any thoughts regarding the end of boil hops ?

Thanks chaps. Got it all finished by 4:30 which made it about a 7 hour brew day, 2 hours off my last attempt 8) .

I steeped 44g of the Styrian's (all I had left) so I'm hoping for a nice hoppy aroma in the finished brew.

I ended up a little short of my final volume which I think was down to collecting slightly less pre-boil & the amount the extra hops absorbed.
After topping up to 23l with filtered water the S.G. was 1.043, a point above the book's target, which I'm quite pleased with as my first 2 AG brews were a bit stronger than I really wanted.

I did take some pictures but they're not really any different to the the last brew I did so I'm not sure it's worth posting them.
