sitting at work scratching one of my brains i realised that i could slope off early and noone would notice.

the wife to be was overjoyed to see me home early and puckered up for a smaker as i tore past her to get the boiler up and running . tonights brew will be ;
Varsity bitter 25 litres (dave line special of course)
pale malt 2900gm
crystal malt 250 gm
roasted barley 30gm
demerara sugar 450 gm
fuggles 100 gm
gervin real ale yeast
gravity 1041 (i hope)
its mashing now

cheers Daab, i checked it and as you say it was well bitter , ive reduced it to 70gms aiming for about 40 IBUS (theyre old hops) . cool tool by the way i will save that in my faves to use again .cheers

ive just suggested that there is something sexual about a well set up three tier sparging operation to my better half. she again called me a sad tw*t and walked off !

boils on now should be finshed by 10 then cool and pitch by 11 (ish)

Go on Colin, you could really go for it and do a double brew night! Mmmmm...well..you have got everything out haven't you....you could probably have a few beers couldn't you......think of that, two fermentors bubbling away tomorrow not one Mmmmmm

Can you work it in such a way that while you are popping to your LHBS you have a brew mashing ?

all done at 10.45 , og was 1046 which is a bit of a shame as i was aiming for 1041 but not too huge a difference . you were spot on about the hops Daab its now just as i like it bitterness wise , cheers
