German pilsner

Post by Rookie » Sat Mar 01, 2014 6:06 pm

I brewed this 2/12/14
three gallons, O G 1.049, 35 IBUs
7 pounds Best pilsner malt
mashed @ 150f for 60 minutes
1/3 ounce mittlefrueh @ 4.3% to first wort hop
7/8 ounce mittlefrueh @ 4.3 % for 60 minutes
pinch of irish moss plus
1/4 teaspoon of nutrient for 15 minutes
2/3 ounce mittlefrueh @ 4.3% for 6 minutes
1/8 ounce (the last of the 2 ounces I had) to steep
1 pack of S-34/70, sprinkled on the wort

I pitched the yeast at 3pm and there was a tiny bit of foam starting to form by 7am the next morning. I was getting bubbles through the airlock (every 13 seconds) by 10pm.
I took a gravity reading yesterday and after two weeks it's down to 1.006, fairly clear and yummy.

I was thinking early December, but the maths didn't work.

So you brewed this in your DeLorean in the future! 2nd December 2014! Emmet and Marty will be impressed!

You got me. Here in the States we list month/day/year.

If I had a time machine I'd use it to go back and do unspeakable things to the guy my ex ran off with.
Never mind, I already did: I walked away from the whole mess and let him have her.
I'm just here for the beer.

Rookie, just post the dates as you would normally do!!! Ignore those folks that comment because they can't figure it out. How's the beer turning out?

Pretty darn good. I racked to a smaller carboy last friday and it's in the lagering chest at 34f where it'll stay at least four weeks.

I bottled yesterday after seven weeks of lagering and I am very happy with the warmish flat taste I took and can hardly wait for it to carb.

I tried one after 10 days and I'm happy, but will leave it at room temperature at least another couple of weeks to carb a bit more.
