Brewday - ToeCutters Twist - Friday 24/08

Post by Wez » Wed Aug 22, 2007 8:07 pm

Tomorrow i'll be having a bash at this one:

5000gm Pale Malt (MO) Grain 98.0 %
100gm Crystal Malt Grain 2.0 %
26gm Fuggles [4.90%] (90 min) Hops 12.6 IBU
35gm Styrian Goldings [3.00%] (90 min) Hops 10.4 IBU
30gm Styrian Goldings [3.00%] (15 min) Hops 4.6 IBU
50gm Styrian Goldings [3.00%] (0 min)

It's a variation of my TLC Twist recipe a friend of mine tried the TLC and enjoyed it but said that he'd prefer it less bitter and to have more Styrian aroma.

TLC Twist is normally around 37 EBU (by Beersmith calcs) this one should give me 27 EBU i've also upped the steep Styrians from 25g to 50g so I hope this will give me what I'm after.

Working at 75% efficiency i'd get OG of 1046 (4.4%abv)

Equipment all ready for action although I don't think i'll be up at dawns crack tomorrow, may be an 8am start. 8)

Kit ready...

Nice recipe, very similar to my house ale except I use GP as the base.

No, no kids 8)
But when I was a kid the only person who wanted to be up before 8 was my dad, and he had a thing for 5am and made sure everyone else was up cause he was
Now 5 am is only seen if a PO has been raised or it is the end of the day

 Brewday posponed until tomorrow due to weekend plan changes which means I have to get the glossing done in the nursery today!!!

I weighed out the grains last night and put them in an old FV with a lid on, will they be ok until tomorrow?

I hate painting, any painting which needs to be done in my household gets done by wifey full stop.
I reckon you need to put your foot down wez,and say it,s a womens job and then run and hide behind something.

 I did try that one but 'apparently' it's not a 'good idea' to get a 8 month pregnant woman to do 8 hours glossing  wimps!
