Hoppy APA Brewday

Post by Rhodesy » Fri Nov 06, 2015 5:03 pm

After taking delivery of a BM20 this week I thought it would be rude not to. First impressions are as I hoped and I love it. Hit both my preboil & post boil targets. I did in my haste forget to take pics of cooling and the hop rocket (0 min steep additions).

I used the no sparge method which I enjoyed and managed to hit my target bang on, not bad for a first go. Cleaning was nice, quick and simple. Delighted with this system and plan to have another brew day tomorrow to get the festive stocks as they should be.

Very jealous of the BM, it's on my next big brewing purchase list! And a hop rocket too

Do you use the hop rocket with a plate chiller en route to the FV?
I am a stay at home Dad turned professional brewer. I run a very small cuckoo brewery in the Cotswolds which specialises in Gluten Free beers.

Yeah I use the Hop rocket followed by plate chiller to lock that aroma in. I let them steep for a while prior to pumping to open the flowers in the rocket. The main PITA is disconnecting it all trying not to spill everything all over the place.

I usually ferment in a Conical so I can then dump trub but building up festive stocks and brewing again today. Done an overnight mash, just waiting on the wife coming home to take over parental duties and I can crack on with the boil.
