Post by injac » Mon Dec 14, 2015 4:45 pm

Yesterday was a good brew day. Recipe courtesy of John_Drummer of this very forum. Only change was I used Northdown instead of Fuggles as had them in stock already.

Was aiming for 1.045 - got 1.043!

Volume into Fermentor (VIF): 18 L = 4.76 G @ 1.045
Volume into Packaging (VIP): 16.67 L = 4.4 G @ 1.011 assuming apparent attenuation of 75 %

Checked on this today - plenty of bubbling but no krausen. It seems after reading online cocoa powder can be the reason for this - wonder if it will kill the head in the finished beer....?

Cocoa does indeed contain fat which can be detrimental to head retention.
