Thought I would document my first attempt at homebrewing. Maybe you guys can tell me what I'm doing/done wrong.
Firstly the equipment I bought.
- High End Brew Pot Pot Size: 33l (For my induction hob and future proof for use with All Grain)
- Brupak's Bottle and Barrel Cleaner 200g
- Bubbler Airlock with Red Cap (2's)
- Young's Simple Syphon
- Emily Bottle Capper
- Wine & Beer Hydrometer with Plastic Trial Jar - "Alla"
- Safale US-05 Yeast
- The Kernel Brewery - Double Citra IPA EXTRACT Recipe Pack
- Better Brew Plastic fermenter with tap
- Crown Caps Black (100's)
- StarSan No Rinse Sanitizer 236ml
- Long Stainless Steel Spoon
- Little Bottler Complete
Terrible photo of equipment

Manged to clean and remove labels (NIGHTMARE) from a bunch of bottles I have saved.

Well not sure what I have done wrong with the images, that normally works on forums haha.
Forgot to say, the instruction say to agg 550g of brewing sugar to the boil so I need to get some of that before starting and think I might try some IrishMoss also.

You need a higher post count before you can post pictures.

Well I managed to get my first brew done on Saturday.
Began with getting all the ingredents sorted.
Brought the water to boil.
Rolling boil.
First experience with fresh hops, they smell AMAZING!
Put the pot in a cold bath to cool. Was suprised how quickly it did.
Just before it had reached 19 deg I rehydrated the dry yeast.
Fermentor filled.
Took my OG - 1.074
Wrapped up and sitting pretty (I hope)
Took a peek at it the next morning. Plenty bubbling and looks like a nice "crust" is forming.
Boring video of airlock.

Looking good. Only a week to go, and then you can take a bath.

1.074

Not for the faint hearted, was it a deliberate move to go for just 14l or is that really the recipe strength?

Just looking into that. Hopefully it doesn't spoil my beer.

Well following the instructions I added the 100g of Citra as a dry hopping. Worried at this stage I'll infect the beer but I did boil everything first. I weighted down the bag with a shot glass but think it's not enough. Will report back tomorrow evening.
