Brew day. Wheat beer

Post by duncans » Mon Mar 28, 2016 5:40 pm

Another rainy day and sick wife and baby means no decking getting laid again .... time for another brew then.

Wheat beer, 11L, 5% ABV
Grains: wheat malt 1.1kg (50%), lager malt 1.1kg (50%)
Mash: 12l water for 63C for 45 min, 73C for 15 min, mash out 78C. ph 5.6.
Boil:
Perle (3.9%) 12g for 60 min
Perle 5g for 10 min, Spalt (4.5%) 5g for 10 min
Perle 5g for 0 min, Spalt (4.5%) 5g for 0 min

Cooled overnight and pitched 0.5 sachet Safbrew WB-06 earlier today. Coming out of the fermentor already.

Looks very dark in fermentor, obviously lighter in sample jar but still more colour than I was looking for.
Hopefully I haven't overdone the hops. Last wheat beer only have 1 bittering addition and no late additions but I wanted to see how perle and spalt would work together.
