SMASH Amarillo and Northern Brewer

Post by chefgage » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:14 pm

Been trying to get round to doing a SMASH. My last few brews seem to have got more and complicated and I am not learning enough about what I am doing. So going back to basics and doing a load of SMASH's swopping out different hops but keeping the yeast the same.

I aquired two new smaller boil kettles with valves and two no chill cubes, so I was ready to go.

I mashed just using maris otter and split this in two.

Maris Otter 5.5kg (split in half after the 60 min mash)
Amarillo 0.5oz 60 mins
Amarillo 0.5oz 15 mins
Amarillo 1oz 0 mins
Safale 05 yeast

Other half of the mash was :

Northern brewer 0.5oz 60 mins
Northern brewer 0.5oz 15 mins
Northern brewer 1oz 0 mins

And now a few pictures!!
