Here's an interesting one for you guys, an ale that I hope ends up fooling the lager drinkers over Christmas

20L OG 1.052 @ 80% efficiency 40 IBU 5% abv

3.8kg pale malt
500g flaked rice

mash in 10.75L at 50 C for 30 min
raise to 66C for a further 60 min

Batch sparge

boil for 60 min with 80g fuggles 3% a.a.
add 22g Saaz 3% a.a for the last 15 min
add 20g Saaz at boiler power off and allow to soak for 15 min.

Yeast is Coopers ale yeast

Just off to get the first mash underway :D

That has got to be one of my worst brewdays since I began 23 years ago
I had a stuck mash which I could only run off by constantly stirring the grain which meant that what ended up in the boiler looked like cream of chicken soup
So consequently the amount of break material and trub left meant that the run off into the fv was painfully slow as well
Oh well they can't all go well I suppose

Yes, that and the last 25kg batch of malt that I bought seems to have been milled finer than usual
