More lockdown and the one corny keg brew, plus a couple of full 2ltr PET bottles isn’t lasting very long. Got a 30ltr mash tun, got a 50 ltr boiler, got enough malt, hops, yeast - time to do a 2 corny brew.
O.G for 40ltrs was 1.047, at end of boil I topped volume up for O.G of 1.042.
Got 8.3kg of grist in the Klarstein, 2.5 ltrs/kg. The Klarstein masher does a good job, heats up to strike temp fast and holds temperature for at least an hour. 21 ltrs for the mash, with 10gm DLVS and 15gm gypsum. Strike temp 75c, mashed at 66c.
Boiler has 2 Peco elements in, saves waiting ages for boil, plus redundancy if one packs in mid brew.
Don’t have any volume marks on boiler or mash tun. Use a £3, 60cm stainless steel rule (Screwfix). Made a couple of charts corresponding to water volume per cm/inch for each vessel.
Only did a 45 min boil. Packet of Wilko yeast in each fermenter and a total of 42/43 ltrs.
All went well and hardly took any extra time. Turned mash tun on at 6.30, all done and cleaned up by 12.00.
