Now time for 30 grams of Citra and 30 grams of Calypso in the whirlpool for 20 mins at 79°c

All wrapped up, 2 points short of expected OG, not a bad brew day.
Smells lovely right now, lovely clear wort, will post the recipe if anybody is interested?

So I have to different pre boil gravities, hydro reads 1.044 and refrac read 1.040 so I'm going with 1.042.
Efficiency is down a bit from my average if 66% so far, but I'm sure will still make a tasty beer.
If the hydrometer sample was measured at 20c then the OG was what it said, 1.044. You will have to calibrate the refractometer to your hydrometer. Oh, and only use it for pre-fermented wort, accuracy is more of an issue after that. There are calculators that will deal with that but it is simpler to use a hydrometer. Only people who "wet the bed" about a few sips lost worry about sampling with a hydrometer.

Thanks Tim, kegged and bottled it up today and it tastes amazing, arome almost smells like a Solero ice lolly, lots of citrus in it from the Citra, but also getting apple from it too.
The Munich and Vienna lend a nice rounded malt sweetness to compliment the hops too.

I like the look of that! My brew house/garage is slowly emptying of builders bits n bobs from ever delayed work, can’t wait to get brewing again. I love the idea of a solero smelling ale. The sun will be out for that one! Lovely at least to watch someone else brew!

Here is the recipe if anybody is interested, probably the most complex one I have made to date.
Probably nothing compared to others, but I generally keep things simple so this was a step into the unknown for me lol.

Really good, plenty of hop character, althought not too bitter surprisingly.
The Munich and Vienna come throught nicely to round it out, altogether really smooth.
