Big brew weekend

Post by bconnery » Sun Nov 18, 2007 8:59 am

The family is away for the weekend, and I was under wife's order, brew as much as you can this weekend because december is hectic...
Being a dutiful husband I obliged...

German pilsnerish...
I've been slack with kettle finings of late but I did it again on this one and wondered why I haven't been... Great clarity in the hydrometer sample...
The NZ hallertau hops smelt amazing.

Had a great weekend for refining the process and thinking about how I brew, rather than just concentrating on getting it done, which can occur when there are domestic distractions going on.
Lager is in the fridge, the APA is in the box and I'm off to look at the temp on the wheat to see if it is ready to pitch...

Cheers and Beers
One Satisfied Brewer...

Well it was a busy weekend, especially Saturday, but it was great fun.
All three beers are bubbling away nicely...
Should be nice and stocked for the silly season...

Hopefully it is. I made the first one three years ago and have done one each year when I can get a big box of jamming strawberries for not too much...
This is the first AG one though so hopefully it works as well. I used a similar recipe to my berry wheat but it was a tiny bit lacking in background for the fruit so I added some munich for this one.
I am a big fan of fruit beers, when done with fresh fruit, so if this one works as well as others I might be close to a good base malt bill for them...
