My brews are usually clear after a couple of weeks without any aid. The odd one remains a little cloudy but tastes no different. If I have guests I just serve it with the lights off! Only last week I experimented with a 2 litre bottle which was about 3 months old and not as clear as my normal beers. I added some gelatine and within a few days there was a noticeable difference. I wouldn't normally use gelatine in a bottle unless it was in a secondary vessel before bottling, but it will suit your barrel better. You could also try polyclar and isinglass.

You barrel problems have no relationship to the beer not clearing. That's down to the (obviously top secret) yeast strain you used. You could add finings but bear in mind that you'll need to re-prime as you're going to lose pressure when you open the barrel. Your problem will be that unless you leave it alone for a week or two prior to fining, you won't really know how much of the existing priming sugar has been fermented out and how much of the CO2 has remained in solution so you won't know how much extra to add. Plenty of opportunity to get wrong there :D

OTOH, you could just leave it for a few more weeks.
Best wishes
