Geletine and yeast
Geletine and yeast
I'm going to use some gelatine in my secondary to get a clearer beer. But while reading up about using I read somewhere about priming bottles using extra yeast and sugar. Does gelatine remove all the yeast?
Re: Geletine and yeast
I don't see the duplicate post so I'll answer your question here.
Even after using gelatin (and other finings such as PVPP) there is still enough yeast in order to bottle condition your beer, the beer can look clear and still have the required number of yeast cells.
In general unless the beer is aggressively filtered or lager/aged for a considerable time (months) there will be enough yeast to bottle condition without the need to add more.

Re: Geletine and yeast
Can you use the leaf gelatine you can get in the supermarket or does it have to be the liquid stuff from the lhbs
Re: Geletine and yeast
Powdered gelatine from the supermarket is fine, so I assume the leaf-stuff is good also - once it's rehydrated it's just the same stuff as in liquid form.
