Hi everyone
Does anyone use irish moss in last 15 mins of boil and if so how do you get it out as the stuff I ordered is quite fine. Not sure if I am being stupid here?? Do you leave it in?

Not sure that you would need it for an extract batch since it's used as a clarifying agent. Otherwise, yes you just leave it in and drain off from your boiler.

Interesting. Looking forward to making my first extract brew when I get some time. Bought the ingredients for Clone Brews Grolsch including irish moss. Every recipe in the book uses irish moss.

Re: Using irish moss in extract boil?
Irish moss helps clear your wort by causing proteins to coagulate. If left in the beer, these proteins can cause a Haines, particularly a chill haze.
However, in malt extract most of the proteins have already been removed by the extract making process, so Irish moss is probably of limited value in an extract brew. It won't harm anything either, so by all means bung it in if you want, but it won't have much if an effect.
