Home Brewing Fatality!

Hi Everyone

been reading the forum for ages, and also brewing for a long time.

Santa brought me a boiler for Christmas, so I made use of a rare day to myself to make my first Extract brew - Hopback Summer Lightning from Graham Wheeler's book.

All went well until I came to weigh out the hops, when I discovered this:

Poor little bugger. I still used the hops! :D

You think you were surprised? How do you think the ladybird feels?

One minute he's wandering along daydreaming about greenfly and then next minute a very precise 113 gram rectangular cuboid of hops lands on his head. Not a good day at the office.

Good to know the hops haven't been doused in insecticide.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

During hop growing season I like to see a bunch of these fellas, they eat aphids which damage hop plants which eliminates the need for pesticide.
I'm just here for the beer.
