Extract tips

Post by Cozzyb » Thu Nov 07, 2013 11:37 pm

So,

I love my all grain brewing, but I am finding I am really short on brewing time lately, as such I want to try extract again, just bought 3kg of LME and 6kg of Extra Light DME, so I want some tips.

What are you top 10 tips for brewing with extract?

make the solution up as the water is heating up, things tend to go nuts at boiling point :D

It took a while for me to notice I could...
Use CaraPils to add body.
Boil for 15 min only and jack up the hops accordingly.
Add the extract, as Rob Walker says, while the water's coming to the boil.
Ditto speciality grains; fish them out before boiling point. Should be ample time.
You could even weigh stuff out the night before.

Cheers
