Fermenting

Post by jimmybobbird » Mon Sep 22, 2014 8:08 pm

On my 3rd extract brew I notice that some of the head from the initial fermentation is floating within the brew (assume this is what it is) - never seen this before and it looks unsightly. Is there anything wrong? It smells quite nice - I only pitched the this morning - approx. 13 hrs ago.

I would post a picture but I don't know how...........

yeast islands floating on the surface due to a bit of trapped co2 underneath probably, a solid whack with a wooden spoon to the fv side should create enough of a shock to make it loose its gas and drop.
ist update for months n months..

Perfectly normal for stuff to churn around inside the fermenter.
