definitely 1.025 - Using the TastyBrew.com recipe calculator says it should come out at 1046. I won't put anything else in - thats what I did with the last brew - and yes, there is a serious haze to it. I don't mind a haze myself it it doesn't affect the taste, but I want to share this with others, who already have a bad enough opinion of homebrew - maybe rather than going back to kits I might try the liquid malt extract next time.

My 'small beer' had two weeks in the FV, and I bottled it 5 days ago with just 40g of white sugar for priming. I bottled a few before adding the priming sugar, and have been working my way through those whilst the others are in the brewing cabinet. Though it is a fraction thin, that only makes it all the more quaffable, and I certainly prefer it to the 'wonky'.

I plan to repeat the same exercise again, probably add an extra 500g of DME, and maybe reduce the final volume a bit to shoot for 1030 - happy medium between my last two.

That's the beauty of extract/AG - you get to play with the recipe to get the beer you want, not what someone else thinks you might want! The price is that when they go wrong they tend to go more wrong (but are still usually drinkable/cookable with).

GTI
Drinking: Kriek (cherry beer); prohibition coconut rum; Davey's Best Bitter 2 (AG); TC; Mead; Gorse Wine; Darwin's summer ale; Apple wine
Conditioning: Grape wine 2009 & 2010; Pomegranate and cherry wine
Brewing: Vinojay (orange wine); Vino de tavola - rosso
Planning: Newton's Porter
Gone but not forgotten: Mead; Framboos (Kit); Gorse wine;
