Brubox kits
Re: Brubox kits
Id say tis about 1014 now so if it sticks at the until tomorrow then ill bottle and get the Reserve on:)
I ended up leaving the Hydrometer in the brew as sterlaising it everyday as you say is a royal pain in the backside.

Sounds like you are somewhere near, anyway. 1014 for 2-3 days and I'd be bottling too!
Re: Brubox kits
Its been constant now for 24 hours or more so im going to bottle shortly then get my next kit straight on.
Re: Brubox kits
Just poured half a glass form the FV. Its very cloudy and has some sebiment in it but tastses nice. A bit strong at the mo but i imagine conditioning will sort that out.

Sounds good! The sediment will drop out after the secondary fermentation.Robdog wrote:Just poured half a glass form the FV. Its very cloudy and has some sebiment in it but tastses nice. A bit strong at the mo but i imagine conditioning will sort that out.
On with the next one!

Re: Brubox kits
Well all done.
A couple pf mishaps. Firstly the heating was on while i was doing it and i got very hot and a drop of sweat went in the brew haha, good job im the only one who likes stout. Hope it doesnt ruin it.
Secondly not sure what went on with the little bottler but it was fine for the first 3/4 of a bottle then nothing would come out. I turned it off and on again and a massive gush of air went through the brew to the top and made it gloop then it started working. Could this have been trapped air? Again hope it hasnt ruined it. Is there anyway to prevent this?
Ive put it inside the wardrobe of the spare room now and il leave it there for 5 days as its fairly warm then im unsure where to put it. Ive got a big shed but its very cold in there and unheated would it be ok to put it in there?
Ill start my next brew tomorrow.
I got 21 and 1/2 1 ltr bottles so im chuffued.

Re: Brubox kits
I don't think any of your 'mishaps' will cause you any problems.
Sounds like an airlock in the bottler, it should find it's way out pretty quickly. Make sure the tap is fully open - the holes line up at 90° to the tap body, if you push the tap lever too far, it will restrict the flow.
5 days somewhere warm, then a few weeks in the shed sounds ideal. Once it's carbonated, somewhere dark and cool is perfect... try to save a bottle or two for a few months, so you can taste the effect of maturing a beer longer.

Re: Brubox kits
Cheers Paul ill leave it for 5 days in the bedroom and then transfer to my shed. Well its actually a gym but it will have to double up now as my cellar.
Im tempted to get another barrel so i can get 2-3 brews on at a time

Make sure you can still get to the gym equipment, you might need it!Robdog wrote:Cheers Paul ill leave it for 5 days in the bedroom and then transfer to my shed. Well its actually a gym but it will have to double up now as my cellar.

Re: Brubox kits
Well thats my Reserve on. I only made it up to about 21-22 ltrs inseated of 23 so im hoping for a stronger drink with any luck. Im expecting to get the gravity lower also so il be double carefull not to keg before its finished.
Couldnt really get a accurate grav reading on it as the throth head was massive. Id say 1040 though.
